Blood Glucose Testing Supplies
The basic components of diabetic testing supplies include:
- Blood glucose testing machine / monitor
- Blood glucose test strips
- Lancets

The blood glucose meters detect how much glucose is in the blood. Normal blood glucose levels are 4.0 to 7.0 millimoles per litre (mmol/L) when fasting or before meals and then 5.0 to 10.0 mmol/L at 2 hours after a meal.
After pricking the finger with a lancet, blood from the finger tip is applied to the blood glucose test strip. Chemicals in the test strip react with the blood. Electrical current then passes through the test strip allowing the meter to detect how much glucose is in the blood.
Lancets should NOT be used more than once. Lancets should be disposed of in an approved sharps container due to the fact this device is coming in contact with blood.
